Celiac Disease Center at The University of Maryland School of Medicine
Steven J. Czinn, M.D., Professor and Chair, Department of Pediatrics, has announced that the University of Maryland Center for Celiac Research has appointed Anca Safta, M.D., Assistant Professor and Medical Director of Endoscopy, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition, as Interim Director of the Center’s celiac clinical program.
The Center is renowned for its ground-breaking research into celiac disease, including developing a diagnostic blood test and collaborating with the North American Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition to publish guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of children with celiac disease.
The clinical program, which will continue to see patients up to age 30, will also involve internationally-recognized nutritionist Pam Cureton as well as a staff of board certified physicians from the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
