Ingredients
- 3 tbsp Vegetable Oil
- 1 bay leaf
- 1.5 cup Onions finely chopped
- 2 green chilies slit
- 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 2 tbsp cilantro chopped
- 1 tsp Salt
- 2 tbsp chana masala spice mix
- 1/2 tsp Sugar
- 5 Tomatoes ground to a puree
- 500 ml Water
- 2 cans of chick peas drained
Instructions
- Heat oil in large sauce pan. Add in a bay leaf. Add in finely chopped onions and sauté till the onions are light brown in color. Add in the green chillies, ginger garlic paste and coriander leaves. Sauté the mixture for two minutes . Add in 2 tablespoons of spice powder. Add in the salt. Add sugar to balance the flavors. Sauté for a few seconds.
- Add the tomato puree to the pan. Mix well to combine. Add 2 cups of water.
- Add in drained chickpea. Mix well. Bring it to a boil, reduce the flame and simmer for 20 to 30 minutes masala cook for 15 minutes. Adjust for water and salt as needed.
- NOTE - YOU CAN buy a ready made chana masala spice mix from a grocery store
