Crown Prince
Crown Prince, Inc. has three sustainability initiatives at work every day at our company:
Corporate: Reduce our carbon footprint. Crown Prince, Inc. (CPI) sets a target of reducing emissions from electricity usage every year since 2009. CPI meets this goal through company-wide behavioral changes as well as support of grid sourced renewable energy. CPI supports offsets through the purchase of verified emissions reductions (VERs) and renewable energy credits (RECs) from Renewable Choice. Since 2010, CPI has reported the results of our sustainability efforts to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).
Employee Initiatives: To more fully engage employees in our sustainability efforts, CPI provides many opportunities for staff to get involved. Group working sessions focus on helping employees reflect upon their roles regarding sustainability at work and at home, as well as provide opportunities of making suggestions regarding new sustainability initiatives for our headquarter offices. Discussions about the initiatives currently underway are encouraged. CPI hosts sustainability focused lunch-and-learn sessions and company-wide green activities. In an effort to reduce waste at local landfills and clean up our community, CPI participates in California Coastal Cleanup Day and is involved in the TerraCycle Program.
Suppliers: CPI is committed to working with suppliers who value and practice environmentally and socially responsible business. “CPI Supplier Standards” outlines the core commitments to social and environmental accountability that we expect from all of our suppliers. CPI also works directly with our suppliers to reduce waste, water use, GHG emissions, and energy usage while simultaneously increasing recycling efforts in our supply chain. Currently in development is a “CPI Supplier Scorecard” which will assess how each of our suppliers is impacting the environment and their community. Central to our mission is the sustainability of the products we carry. All products eligible for Marine Stewardship Council certification have gained this important sustainable harvest certification.
